Frequently Asked Questions

Find answers to common questions about Vet Fair.

How are prices on Vet Fair collected? +

Every price on Vet Fair is phone-verified. We contact UK vet practices directly, ask what they charge for specific procedures, and record their responses. We don't scrape the web or make assumptions — we get the data straight from the source.

Prices are regularly updated to ensure accuracy. We also accept submissions from pet owners who've recently had treatment.

Is Vet Fair free to use? +

Yes, 100% free. Vet Fair is free for pet owners to search, browse, and compare prices. There's no signup, no hidden costs, and no premium features. We believe transparency should be accessible to everyone.

We cover our costs through affiliate partnerships and sponsorships from pet care companies — never by selling your data or charging pet owners.

How often are prices updated? +

We refresh our core dataset regularly and prioritise practices with outdated information. We also accept price submissions from users, which helps us spot practices that need updating.

If you notice a price that looks wrong, you can report it or submit an updated price using our form.

Can I list my vet practice on Vet Fair? +

Yes. If your practice isn't listed or the information is outdated, you can claim your listing. Once claimed, you can update your practice information, respond to price data, add services, and manage how your practice appears on Vet Fair.

Do you sell my data? +

No. We do not sell personal data. We collect anonymous analytics through Google Analytics (with your consent) to understand how people use Vet Fair, but we never sell or share personal information about individual users.

If you submit a price, you have the option to include your email for follow-up, but that data stays with us and is never sold.

Is Vet Fair only for the UK? +

Yes, Vet Fair focuses exclusively on UK vet practices. We collect prices from practices across England, Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland, but we don't currently cover overseas vets.

How do I report incorrect or outdated information? +

If you spot a price that seems wrong, outdated, or missing, you can submit an updated price using our form. You can also email us at [email protected] with details about what needs fixing.

We review all reports and update our database accordingly.

What is the CMA investigation into vet prices? +

In March 2026, the Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) concluded its investigation into UK vet market prices. They identified lack of transparency as a key issue and recommended mandatory price lists for all practices, a £21 cap on prescription charges, and greater ownership transparency.

Vet Fair exists to solve exactly the problem the CMA highlighted: lack of price transparency. Learn more about the CMA decision →

Are the prices on Vet Fair guaranteed? +

Prices on Vet Fair are indicative based on phone-verified data at the time of collection. However, prices can change without notice. Always contact your local practice directly to confirm the current price before booking treatment.

Prices may vary based on your pet's age, weight, health status, and other factors, so use Vet Fair as a starting point for comparison, not as a guarantee.

Can I embed Vet Fair data on my website? +

Yes. We offer a widget that bloggers, charities, and pet insurance sites can embed on their websites to show Vet Fair data. The widget is free and helps pet owners discover prices directly from your site.
