We called 97 Goddard and Medivet branches across London and asked them exactly what they charge. No guessing, no estimates — real prices from real phone calls.
Here's how the UK's two biggest vet chains compare on the procedures that matter most.
Consultation Fees
Goddard charges between £61 and £65 for a standard consultation across their 40 London branches. The pricing is remarkably consistent — most branches charge exactly £61 or £65.
Medivet has a wider range: £56 to £75 across their 57 London branches. Some Medivet practices are actually cheaper than Goddard, but the top end is significantly higher.
Winner: It depends on your local branch. Medivet's cheapest beats Goddard, but Goddard is more predictable.
Vaccinations
Primary vaccination courses at Goddard cost £85–£99. At Medivet, the range is £60–£95.
For boosters, Goddard charges £67–£68 while Medivet ranges from £45 to £85.
Winner: Medivet — their cheapest branches undercut Goddard significantly on vaccinations.
Neutering
Dog castration at Goddard starts from £250–£310. At Medivet, it's from £280 with less variation between branches.
Cat neutering (male) is £95–£143 at Goddard and £80–£130 at Medivet.
Winner: Goddard's cheapest branches can be better for dogs, but Medivet wins on cat neutering.
Emergency Consultations
This is where the biggest gap appears. Goddard's emergency fees are £204–£296, while Medivet charges £130–£270.
Winner: Medivet, by a significant margin on emergencies.
The Verdict
Neither chain is consistently cheaper. Medivet has more price variation between branches, which means some are bargains and some are expensive. Goddard is more predictable but rarely the cheapest option.
The real answer? Compare your specific local branches. A Medivet five minutes from you might be £20 cheaper per consultation than the Goddard down the road — or vice versa.
